Best Practice: Managing Basecamp Accounts

Recommendation: Create a Basecamp account with access to your projects that is just used by Centripetal Retrieve™

In order to maintain control of your Basecamp data without impacting your personal account Centripetal Software recommends that you create a Basecamp account that is just for the Centripetal Retrieve™ product to access your Basecamp data, files and writeboards. This allows you to maintain control of what projects Centripetal has access to retrieve as well as to control the authentication information for your account without having to worry about your primary Basecamp account needing to be modified. This also gives you another point of security and auditing as you are able to see what users perform which actions in Basecamp. We realize that giving passwords to services online can be a little nerve racking so we want you to know how best to do that without comprimising your critical business data.

By creating a separate account for Centripetal Retrieve™ you'll realize the following benefits:

1. Control overall access to your Basecamp account - If you ever have any concern about our product this account will allow you to shut off access to your data in one action without impacting any of your users.
2. Control project level access - If you want to control which Basecamp projects get backed up or which Basecamp projects our product has access to, you can manage it outside of our product with this separate account.
3. Limit impacts to your personal Basecamp account - If you have a need to change the password you use for your personal account or if you need to limit access to an account you won't have to make additional changes within our system as well to keep things in sync.
